Abstract
Cultural ombudsmen are needed for defendants of color to help them overcome cultural barriers and guide them through an unfamiliar criminal justice system. The need is more pronounced as increased cultural diversity in society leads to increased cultural clashes in the courtroom. The cultural ombudsman's cultural expertise and guidance promotes the fair administration of justice for defendants of color.
