About the Speaker

Carol Anderson is the Robert W. Woodruff Professor of African American Studies at Emory University, and a member of the Society of American Historians, a W.E.B. Du Bois Fellow of the American Academy of Political and Social Sciences, and a member of the prestigious American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

In 2019, Carol contributed an essay to the New York Times Magazine’s 1619 Project, an award-winning reframing of American history that placed slavery and its continuing legacy at the center of our national narrative (now available as a book).
